Too Soon? Roguelike Puzzle-Platformer Terraforming Earth is Steam-Bound at the End of January
And no, we’re not deriding the game’s impending release on the PC platform, rather it’s a noted nod to the idea this game is set after the extinction of the human race where you play as three robots with unique abilities in procedurally-generated levels. And given the state of the world right now… this game might be being played by robots sooner than any humans.
Fear and dread aside, Terraforming Earth presents as a charming entry in a burgeoning Indie space quickly being dominated by titles with genre-definitions such as Roguelike, Puzzler and Side-Scrolling. And when you put them all together, you end up with something like this.
Terraforming Earth lets you control three separate robots with different abilities who must work together to solve each procedurally generated level, focusing on problem-solving and planning instead of rote memorization.
Terraforming Earth creates unique situations every time you play with an obstacle-based level generator (no predefined rooms!). Even the boss fights and the music is procedurally generated. The game contains solo and local co-op modes.
Even though Terraforming Earth will be launched in Early Access, it should be treated as a full release in terms of polish and functionality. The full version will expand the experience with more obstacles and enemy types.
