League of Legends OPL Finals and Warcraft III: Reforged Join Melbourne Esports Open 2020
In addition to all of the CS:GO action of what we’re now calling IEM Melbourne comes word of more games and competition taking place at the Melbourne Esports Open across the weekend of August 22-23 at Melbourne & Olympic Parks. Notably, the League of Legends Oceanic Pro League Finals and making its 2020 debut – the ESL Pro Tour: Warcraft III.
The latter, will see international players compete at the ESL Pro Tour Masters level participating in a Warcraft III: Reforged tournament in a dedicated second stage within Margaret Court Arena. The League of Legends OPL Finals will also take place in the arena with an expanded stage and presence this year.
As reported earlier in the week, the massive Rod Laver Arena will house the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament where the world’s best will compete for their share of the $250,000 USD prize pool.
As a celebration of all things videogames the Melbourne Esports Open will once again feature a dedicated JB Hi-Fi Game On Zone, allowing attendees to test out the latest AAA releases and even partake in some VR.
“Die-hard fans along with their families will find something that excites them over the weekend,” said ESL SVP Asia-Pacific Japan, Nick Vanzetti. “To be able to bring every format of esports – from open, casual tournaments, right through to the world’s best under one roof has always been the goal of the Melbourne Esports Open, and this year we’ve finally been able to achieve that – this will be the biggest esports event ever held in Australia, with something for everyone.”
