You’ve got two 6950s crossfired and you’re complaining about fps?

In that case, get two xeon quads for true eight core action.

Nah, even the older i7s won’t be holding you back overall. Especially with BF3. Try overclocking the i7 anyway… they’re good for that and that’ll show if it’s truly the problem.

If you’re finding Dayz slow, it’s because the actual engine (not the mod itself) is pretty poorly coded. No amount of horsepower can fix that shit.

Are you running on SSDs? If not, get one of them. It doesn’t really speed up FPS, but it can help with stuttering from hard drive access.

You may also be experiencing stutter from the crossfires? Try updating the drivers. If that doesn’t work, see what it’s like running on one 6950. I was big into multi cards until I discovered you’ll always have less problem throwing your money into one card.

Also make sure of the usual… with crossfire, I’d have at least 8GBs of RAM, and make sure you’re operating system isn’t 32 bit.

I’m waiting on the zen and Radeon RX480 specs, then i might upgrade this old rig. These new products look like good value for money.

I’m using a 280X at the mo which I understand is just a rebagged 7970. I suspect your crossfire will be fine. Your ram could do with a little bump.

Any DDR3ram will be fine. You can get another 4GB for $25…
https://www.pccasegear.com/category/186_538/memory/all-ddr3-memory/sort/1

It won’t make Windows any faster (unless you autocad etc), but it’ll help with higher end games.
