Hi guys, i think its time everyone makes today the day you change all your passwords. ESP origin. Steban was recently hacked with what was probably a known password that was hacked from a previous site, as explained here.

http://venturebeat.com/2014/12…..purchases/

So now might be the right time to start shifting over to password style wallets, so when you sign up to new sites and change passwords to something more secure, and lets face it the secure passwords are hard to remember. This way you can have individual passwords for every forum/account.

I personally use Keepass, as i can use it on any device and i use a master key, with a file key. The file key is just another layer, as they would need remote access to my pc for the file if shit really hits the fan.  ;)

This is also handy if you think an account of yours is out in the dark web, https://haveibeenpwned.com/

Let face it, some company database out there is gonna get hacked, but at least they can’t take over your whole e-life over one password.

Thanks for reading this public service anouncement

My Ubisoft account got hacked at the same time as thousands of others. I believe it was the second time Ubisoft had been hacked in as many months.

To get the account back, I was asked for all my personal details, including photo copies of license/passport. I couldn’t be bothered. I figure it was their fault and I’m the one who does all the work to get my account back?

I now only pirate Ubisoft games. No uPlay, no problem.

Not exactly related but deep down I hate everyone.

Also, over the last week, this website is under constant attack. We must be popular.

Most are basic vulnerability scans from China.
Other countries mainly include Venezuela, Ukraine and France.
Constant brute password attempts from Italy.

Fortunately the site automatically blocks these ips, and I’ve been adding entire network ranges to the block list as well.

I have noticed the level of bot scanning get more and more ridiculous these days, when i first setup my server i was getting like 30 ish ip’s banned a day from my ssh port, then it got to 100 a couple of years later. Now i run on my pfsense firewall pfblocker known spammer ip’s and country wide ranges.

Mixing up ports throws them off a little, they don’t know what protocol to use on the dictionary attack, so that helps.

Any port that’s forwarded i have a super long generated password, so it’s more difficult to get brute forced.
